Russian Government Scholarship 2027-28 for Pakistani Students

The Russian Government Scholarship, officially known as the Russian Government Quota, is a state-funded programme that lets international students, including Pakistanis, study at leading universities in Russia at the Bachelor's, Master's and postgraduate (PhD-equivalent) levels. Each year the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education allocates a limited number of seats, and the programme covers a wide range of fields, from engineering and IT to economics and linguistics. Selection is competitive and is managed abroad by Rossotrudnichestvo, through the Russian Houses and embassies. What the Scholarship Covers The quota covers full tuition fees, preparatory courses for students who do not speak Russian, and a monthly stipend for the entire period of study. At NUST MISIS in Moscow, for example, students studying at the state's expense receive a dormitory place for a small monthly fee of 2,500 to 3,769 RUB. The award does not cover international flights, health insurance or general living costs, so Pakistani recipients should plan these expenses in advance. For this reason, the Russian Government Scholarship is listed here as partially funded, even though tuition is fully waived. Eligibility and Documents Only foreign citizens are eligible to apply. Applicants with dual Russian citizenship must permanently reside abroad and must not hold any educational diploma issued in Russia. Applicants must provide an education certificate, or a certificate from their current place of study if they have not yet graduated. Postgraduate applicants must also submit a motivation letter and a research summary or article related to their intended research topic. Most programmes are taught in Russian, although some Master's programmes are taught in English, so the free preparatory year is useful for beginners. How to Apply Applications are submitted online through the official federal portal, education-in-russia.com. Register an account, open the My Applications section, create a new application, and choose your level of study, field and up to six universities. Upload a scan of your passport, your education certificate, and proof of achievements such as awards, certificates or publications. Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Russian and notarised. In Pakistan, the Russian House, also known as the Russian Center for Science and Culture, is the institution authorised to nominate students, so contact it for guidance and avoid agents who promise guaranteed seats. Deadlines The Russian Government Scholarship deadline for the 2027/28 academic year is 15 January 2027 for applicants from countries outside the CIS, including Pakistan, and 15 December 2026 for CIS applicants. Results of the first selection stage are usually announced in April or May, after which applications are forwarded to universities for the second stage. For PhD applicants, academic departments review applications and interviews may be held if needed. Do not wait until the final week, because the first selection stage is competitive and documents require notarised translation. Visit education-in-russia.com for the latest details and submit your application for the Russian Government Scholarship well before 15 January 2027.
