UK Chevening Scholarships 2027

The Chevening Scholarship is the UK government’s flagship international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations. It gives future leaders the chance to complete a fully funded one-year master’s degree at any UK university. It is open to applicants from more than 160 countries and territories, including Pakistan, India, Nigeria and Bangladesh. What does Chevening cover? The award includes full tuition fees, a monthly living stipend, a return economy flight to the UK, a visa application fee, an arrival allowance, and additional grants for thesis costs and travel. Scholars also join the Chevening community, an international network of more than 60,000 alumni working in government, business, media and civil society. Who can apply? You must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country, hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a postgraduate course in the UK, and have at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience. You must also return to your home country for a minimum of two years after your studies finish. There is no fixed minimum GPA, but most UK universities expect the equivalent of an upper second-class degree, so aim for a strong academic record. How to apply: Create an account on the official Chevening portal, complete the online form, and answer four essay-style questions about leadership, networking, your study plan and your career plan. You must choose three eligible UK courses, submit two references, and provide proof of your English language ability when asked. Shortlisted candidates are invited to an interview, and successful candidates must hold an unconditional offer from a UK university by the stated deadline. Tips for a winning application: Write clear, specific examples in each essay, show real leadership impact, explain exactly why your chosen courses fit your career goals, and proofread everything before you submit. Start early, because strong references and well-prepared documents take time. Always confirm the latest dates and rules on the official Chevening website before you apply.
