Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2027-28 in Hungary (Fully Funded)
Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian government's flagship scholarship for international students. It was created to bring talented students from partner countries to Hungarian universities, and it is one of the few fully funded European programmes with a large number of places for applicants from Pakistan. It covers Bachelor's, Master's, one-tier Master's and PhD study, and most of the programmes are taught in English. What the scholarship covers - Tuition fees at the Hungarian university - A monthly stipend to help with everyday living costs - Accommodation support, either a place in a dormitory or a housing allowance, depending on the university - Health insurance during your studies Flights to Hungary are usually not part of the package, so it is wise to budget for them. Exact amounts and conditions are set in each year's official call for applications, so read it before you apply. Who can apply - Citizens of a partner country. Pakistan is one of them. - Applicants who meet the entry requirements of the programme they choose (for example a completed Bachelor's degree for Master's study) - Applicants who can prove their language level. Most programmes are in English and ask for a certificate or another accepted proof. The rules differ between universities. - Applicants nominated through their national sending partner, which for Pakistan is the Higher Education Commission (HEC) There is no single GPA cut-off. Selection depends on your academic record, your motivation and how well your chosen programme fits your background. Deadline and timeline The official call for the 2027-28 academic year had not been published when this page was written. Based on the previous cycle, applications are expected to open around November 2026 and close in mid-January 2027, with studies starting in September 2027. We have listed 15 January 2027 as the expected date. Please confirm the final date on the official website, because the HEC deadline for Pakistani applicants can be different. How to apply (for Pakistani students) 1. Read the official Call for Applications and application guide. 2. Register and complete your application on the Stipendium Hungaricum online system and choose up to the allowed number of programmes. 3. Upload all documents: transcripts, degree certificates, motivation letter, CV, language proof and any other papers the call asks for. 4. Complete the separate application on the HEC scholarship portal. Both applications are needed. Finishing only one is not enough. 5. Keep copies of everything and submit well before the last day, because the system gets very busy near the deadline. A tip for your motivation letter Avoid general praise for Hungary. Name the exact programme, explain why its courses match your background, and show what you plan to do with the degree afterwards. Selectors read hundreds of letters, and specific ones stand out. Always double-check dates, benefits and requirements on the official Stipendium Hungaricum and HEC websites before applying, as they change between cycles.
